Damon T. Schroer, MD

Dr. Damon Schroer obtained his undergraduate degree in Biology from California State University, Fresno. He journeyed to the Midwest to pursue his medical education. He received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and then went on to complete his general surgery residency at Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan.

During his residency Dr. Schroer has become proficient in performing all types of general surgery procedures including surgery for the thyroid and parathyroid, breast, stomach, gallbladder, small intestine, colon and rectum. He has a special interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery involving the colon as well as abdominal, inguinal, hiatal, and paraesophageal hernias. He also performs laparoscopic peritoneal dialysis catheters, placement of tunneled catheters for hemodialysis and chemotherapy, and surgery for skin and soft tissue tumors.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Schroer served a mission in Ecuador for 2 years and became fluent in Spanish. Throughout his undergraduate training he volunteered as a medical assistant and interpreter at a free clinic in the Fresno area and looks forward to having the opportunity to participate in medical missions as a surgeon.
